Structure Fires Keep MetroRegion K.C. Fire Departments Busy

Besides the prior fires reported exclusively here at CSW on Saturday afternoon and evening- other fires have also broken out from late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.


Six companies of KC-MO firefighters battled a fire in a 2-story- vacant apartment building in Old Northeast late Saturday night.

That fire was in the 5100 block of East Thompson- dispatched at 11:24 p.m. Saturday night.

Three handlines were used- and the fire was brought under control with no injuries at 11:54 p.m..

Arson is suspected.

Firefighters returned to this address at 1:54 a.m. Sunday morning when the fire either re-kindled or was re-set.


At 12:06 a.m. Sunday morning- a structure fire was reported in Paola KS in the 300 block of East Shawnee.

There wasn't any additional information on this incident.


At 12:21 a.m.- four companies of the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District responded to a house fire in the 1200 block of Northwest Burr Oak Court in Blue Springs MO..


A Blue Springs police officer arrived first at 12:26 a.m.- reporting "heavy smoke and some fire" coming from the attic area of the house- the officer also reported that one of the home's occupants was removing items from the burning house.

An addition CJCFPD fire company and EMS unit was later sent to this scene- and fire companies from Lee's Summit and the Sni-Valley fire departments sent units to fill empty CJCFPD stations.


This fire was reported under control around 1:15 a.m.- with no reports of injuries but heavy damage to the house.
