On Top of Taxes- Eudora KS Schools Will Soon Charge It's Students

I
magine you have a family with 5 children and you're in the Eudora school district.

Now- on top of your educational property tax dollars along with the other costs associated with sending 5 kids to public schools- it will cost you $50 PER CHILD just to have them attend that school in the fall- according to The EUDORA (KS) NEWS.

America's educational system already ranks low with the rest of the world- so I'm JUST assuming this $50 surcharge is "for the children" as governments always like to say.

Oh Eudora residents- can we raise your OTHER taxes a bit to make up the government's other deficits?

You can get the boss to give YOU a raise (HaHa) to make up YOUR deficit....

What you likely don't realize is that Eudora has been among the ONLY districts in the state NOT charging any fees. You'll be hard-pressed to find more than one or two districts, across the state, that have not had fees over the past 10 and 20 years. Eudora has been a rare exception, but the state's inability to adequately fund public education (as required by the Kansas Constitution, by the way), left the Eudora school board no other option.

But to assert that somehow Eudora is unique in the land of fees is actually not correct at all. It HAS been unique and now (right or wrong) is simply following suit of what most districts have been doing for years.

Thanx for the comment "Intelligent."

Whether or not Eudora schools have ever charged fees for students is not really relevant here.

It's the fact that now- in this "recession (Depression)" where many families are undergoing some type of financial hardship- governing bodies see fit to charge new or raised fees/taxes- etc..

How long can governments/school districts- etc. continue to raise needed funds from the very economically-battered American people they're attempting to service?

Something HAS to give and it can't continue to be from the citizen's emptying pockets.
