Picturesque Cedar Rapids- in eastern Iowa- is that state's second-largest city.
In June 2008- record rainfalls brought the Cedar River to a historic flood that covered much of the city- including it's downtown area.
Nearly 7800 structures were inundated- 4800 of those being homes.

While that city awaits the demolition of many of it's flood-destroyed structures- the city's residents keep a wary eye on the Cedar River this Spring amid forecasts of possible floods again- says this story in The DES MOINES (IA) REGISTER.
