Citizens in De Soto and surrounding areas won't really notice a change- but The DE SOTO EXPLORER reported that De Soto's city fire department and that of the rural fire district around De Soto have merged resources and administrative functions.
The new fire district is now known as the "Northwest (JoCoKS) Consolidated Fire District" and should result in a more economically-streamlined operation.
There will be no changes in fire station coverage or response times in the affected area.
