Still no update to the original story on this tornado that struck this northeast Missouri city of around 17000 people around 6 pm Wednesday night- killing at least one and injuring many.
CAUTION - 2050 CDT - KTVO in Kirksville is now reporting "no fatalities and a few injuries" in northern Kirksville- in direct contradiction of the newspaper's story there.

According to police scanners, there's a possibility of 1 to 3 fatalities, several homes are deminished to rubble, some people are still trapped in basements/cellars, and the main damage was in Novinger and the north part of Kirksville. There are still power lines down, they are not letting people through on 63/Baltimore, but there is a lot of cleanup to be done. The Jim Robertsons dealership is a mess, with glass everywhere, cars damaged and thrown everywhere, and also damage to cars that were along the road at the time. Emergency workers will be having a very long night :(
KTVO is reporting U.S. 63 open as of 9:45pm.
City officials in Kirksville say there aren't any fatalities and "only a few minor injuries."
Two of those injured drove themselves to treatment a police captain told me.
The captain did not know if there were injured or fatalities outside of Kirksville.
There's that damage you speak of- thanks for your report and we're all pulling for you.
Cheers-
Groucho
There are 3 confirmed fatalities from this tornado. One woman in Sullivan county, and 2 here in Kirksville.
