KC-MO Finds $7-Million For Bike- Pedestrian Trails

T
he STAR has a story about how KC-MO "plans to spend about $7 million this year" on new biking and walking trails.

This is after the City Council cut $15-million from the police department budget- putting basic police protection for the City's citizens in jeopardy.

I must have a brick head. I cannot in any way- shape or form approve spending half of the police's budget cuts for bike and pedestrian trails.

It appears the mayorial recall didn't include ENOUGH city politicians....

Er, most of this is from federal transportation grants that can't be spent on anything else.

The rest is from KCMO's capital improvement fund, that also can't be spent on police, employee salaries, or whatever else you were moaning about.

First off- I'm BITCHING- not "moaning."

Secondly- are YOU a KC-MO resident?

Does the fact the police department may have to reduce patrol officers on the street or that the fire department may take 3 fire companies out of service bother you at all?

Do the seemingly-daily tax breaks to wealthy developers raise your hackles whatsoever?

It's nice we got Federal (our tax) money to pay for the trails.

I like them and I'll use them if I can concealed-carry since there won't be enough cops around to make sure the trails are safe.

Hell- I got past the "moaning" stage long ago....

Happy (Federally-funded) Trails!
