KC-MO Police Say News Media Beat Them To Scene of Drive-By Shooting

The citizen's watchdawg CSW was monitoring as a shooting call came over the KC-MO Fire dispatch channel at 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

About a minute later- a fire department EMS unit is also requested to the address in the 6000 block of South Benton.

About 4 minutes elapse after the initial FD dispatch when officers from the KC-MO Police Metro Patrol division begin to respond to the call- and arrive on the scene at 2:11 a.m..

Once at the scene- PD confirms that a male had been shot in the abdomen during a drive-by at the intersection of 61st Street.

His injuries are deemed "not life-threatening."

One of the police officers also acknowledges the presence of the news media:

THE (NEWS) MEDIA WAS HERE WHEN (HE) GOT THERE… (THE NEWS MEDIA) WAS SITTING IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE” WHERE THE VICTIM WAS WHEN THE OFFICER ARRIVED.

The officers did not specify which news media organization- likely TV (5?) news- was there.

Police also reported "2" other "victims" from this incident- but they were not transported by FD-EMS.

The wasn't any suspect information yet available.
