CSW WEATHER: NWS "Winter Weather Advisory" North to East K.C. MetroRegion Saturday-Sunday

hus far- indications this snow event could produce from one-half to one and a half inches of snow in the Metro with the lesser amounts in Kansas counties- the most in Missouri Metro areas by Sunday evening.


...ACCUMULATING SNOW EXPECTED SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY...

A POTENT UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM WILL BEGIN TO IMPACT NORTHERN AND CENTRAL MISSOURI SATURDAY AFTERNOON BRINGING A PROLONGED PERIOD OF SNOW- WIND- AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES.

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO OVERSPREAD THE ADVISORY AREA SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING- AND MAY BECOME MODERATE TO HEAVY AT TIMES ESPECIALLY IN LOCATIONS FROM PRINCETON TO KIRKSVILLE AND MOBERLY.

BY SUNDAY THE STRONG STORM WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA WITH RAPIDLY FALLING TEMPERATURES AND NORTHWEST WINDS BETWEEN 15 AND 25 MPH.

TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN 2 AND 5 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE BY SUNDAY EVENING WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF SIGNIFICANT BLOWING SNOW SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND NIGHT.

* TIMING: SNOW WILL BEGIN TO OVERSPREAD THE ADVISORY AREA LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON WITH CONTINUING LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
SNOW WILL EXIT THE AREA SUNDAY EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: THIS LONG DURATION SNOW STORM WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN 2 AND 5 INCHES BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

* IMPACTS: RAPIDLY ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL LEAD TO SLUSHY AND SNOW COVERED ROADS BY SATURDAY NIGHT.
CAUTION SHOULD BE USED WHEN TRAVELING.


* OTHER IMPACTS: BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE BETWEEN 15 AND 25 MPH AT TIMES.
