The People Prepare For Christmas Eve-Day Storm

A
ll the weather geeks (stands) have been watching this phantom- what I'm calling "The Christmas 2009 Storm" since last week.

Now that it's Christmas week- the news media's attention is also focused on this atmospheric disturbance that COULD become a deepening low pressure center somewhere over Missouri by Christmas (Friday) Day.

It looks like rain beginning Wednesday in most of Metro and MetroRegion Kansas City off and on until mid or late-day Christmas Eve (Thursday).

Winter storm watches are in effect tomorrow through the end of the week over virtually all of Nebraska- as well as parts of Kansas- Iowa- Wyoming and Colorado.

A Blizzard Watch is in effect for a large part of southwestern through Southern Kansas as well.

When the cold air corkscrews it's way into the low center is when all the slip & slide fun (not) begins in the form of sleet then snow.

Maybe some 'thundersnows' early Christmas morning? Ya never know....

Travel could be pretty slick Christmas Day and Night- but it's good the day after is Saturday anyway.
