Cat Lovers: Avoid Raymore-MO At ALL Cost

M
ost of you by now I'm sure have heard of the Raymore cops who shot and killed a deaf-declawed 19-year-old house cat that had gotten out of it's owners house on Labor Day Monday.

The cat reportedly had escaped and gotten into a neighbor's garage and Raymore Police claimed the de-clawed cat had scratched a child in the process.

So- rather than take the cat to the animal shelter for observation and possible rabies tests- the cops took the cat into a field- shot and killed it- then put the cat's corpse into a grocery bag and dumped it in a city trashcan.

The Raymore police chief's name is Mayberry- but no Barney Fife jokes here....

Its a shame when police offiers feel they have a right to kill an animal without taking time to find the owners. If this cat was declawed how did it scratch a child? This police officer is a sadistic animal abuser and should be dealt with as an animal abuser. I am from Pennsylvania and heard about this in a local newspaper...I can imagine how many other people around the country have heard about this cruel behavior. If I was a resident of Raymore I would be ashamed of the police and any officials that condone this kind of behavior. Glad I don't live in your kind of town!

According to 41 KSHB, the police report stated that the cat had all 4 legs with claws extended. How can this be? The police obviously lied, and are not going to be reprimanded for filing a false police report

Gues the cat owner should be charged for not taking better care of the cat.
You are the same people who were upset because so dumb cat owner let there cat roam while i obey the law and have my dog fenced in and this cat came into my yard and guess what dog 1 cat 0. Yea for Raymore PD they should shot all the cats that roam without a license thats right no license.

So if and when your dog gets out, are you prepared to have it slaughtered and placed in a dumpster?

What kind of sick bastard are you? It was a six pound declawed cat. Are you an adult? Act like one.

In Raymore, MO THREE police officers, with the approval of the police supervisor, caught a 19 year old cat, who was toothless, frail, weighing only 6 pounds, arthritic, and declawed-as it accidentally wandered out. Three police officers stuffed the cat in a box, took it out in the field, shot it in the head TWICE, picked up its mangled body, threw it in the dumpster, and called the family where they can get their cat. SOUNDS UNREAL?? IT'S NOT!!

Actually this implies, to me, if any animal that happens to accidentally wander out of one's property can be legally shot by the police. The guy who posted about keeping their dog in their yard-should it accidentally get out how would you feel if cops shot your dog, threw it in the trash and called your home and told you where to retrieve its mangled body. Maybe your State of MO has no animal cruelty laws?? Sounds like that-it's like CHINA where there are no animal cruelty laws. sounds like it to me.

Ok as a police officer let me suggest a realistic solution here. The supervisor who told the officer to shoot the cat needs to be suspended without pay for 15 days, and permanently demoted to patrol officer since he or she is incapable of making rational decisions. The officer who was dumb enough to pull the trigger needs to be charged with animal cruelty & sentenced to 200 hours of community service at Wayside Waifs, terminated from the department, and his or her P.O.S.T certification permanently revoked. The city needs to offer the family a new pet, and provide permanent veternairy care as well as a $50000 settlement for the trauma they have caused this family. Not too harsh, but strict enough to teach police officers to think before they act.

Well lets see I have been a dog owner for about 27years now and have never had a dog get out or off the leash. And My dogs have always had tags on them. And it irritates the crap out of me that cat owners think they can allow there cats to roam free and not pay a price. Also you need to find out the whole story about this cat not the bull crap from the owners. No tags on cat no license no way for cops to find owners oh yea did you miss the part about it scratch a kid what the hell is wrong with you people a animal means more than a kid to you. If the cat had been in my garage the cops would not have had to kill it they would have had to dispose of it it would have been dead already for scratching one of my kids. PS I live in Raymore no I am not a cop and we have by far the best Police in the KC area.
