Kansas City MetroRegion WEATHER: Risk Of Severe Storms- Flooding- Next 48 Hours

T
here is risk a risk for severe thunderstorms today across Metro Kansas City as well as all the MetroRegion.

The severe storm risk is "moderate" for extreme southwestern areas- on the Kansas side of the K.C. MetroRegion.

This risk for severe storms extends through late Tuesday- as the area is also under a "slight risk" on the NWS-SPC Day-2 forecast too.

Paramount with all this storm activity is the very heavy rainfall.

Between 1 to 2-inches of rain has fallen this Monday morning over most of Metro Kansas City- areas from northwest to northeast of K.C. got up to 5-inches early this morning.

This morning's storm activity is moving out- and sunshine will heat us up for another round of storms later today - tonight.

USE EXTREME CAUTION DRIVING THROUGH STORMS TONIGHT!

While there is no "official" flash flood watch- I think we all should be on the alert for POSSIBLE serious flash flooding problems should more strong to severe thunderstorms visit us later today and Tuesday.

Remember- since 1960- MORE PEOPLE HAVE DIED IN FLASH FLOODING (36) THAN TORNADOES (3) in Metro Kansas City!

Your unpaid "Sentry of the Sky" will be here all day- watching every satellite- radar and weather chart update.
