At 3:39am- five companies of KC-MO Fire department companies responded to the 4800 block of North Winn Road- where a fire was reported in the apartment building there.
The initial alarm sounded at 3:39am Saturday morning when KC-MO fire dispatchers received one call from Apartment 9- then several calls from other building residents about the fire.
When the first pumper company arrived four minutes later- flames were shooting from the first and second floors of one of the complex's buildings. They want a 2nd-alarm sounded.
An adult male- female and 3-month-old male infant were trapped by fire on a 2nd-floor balcony. When firefighters appeared- the woman reportedly dropped the infant to them.
Both adults suffered non-major burns and smoke inhalation. The infant took in some smoke as well. All were taken to different Metro trauma centers.
No one else was found in the burned-out structure- but at least 4 firefighters have been or are being treated for minor injuries.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Also overnight- another 2-alarm fire- this in KC-KS..
The alarm sounded at 1:51am to a 2-story commercial structure fire in the 4400 block of Rainbow Boulevard.
The structure was heavily-damaged as the fire was brought under control at 2:53am. Flames also damaged a business next door.
No injuries were reported and a cause was yet to be determined.
