Court Rules Parts Of The PATRIOT Act Unconstitutional

As I watched the drama of September 11- 2001 unfold on the boob tube- the question came up of "how many freedoms does this act of terrorism cost us?"

The answer came soon after that September day in the form of knee-jerk legislation assaulting America's Constitution and Bill of Rights.

It was as if American citizens were being punished for what the terrorists did.

Wednesday in Portland-OR- U.S. District Court judge Ann Aiken ruled against 2 parts of that wildly- infuriating PATRIOT Act.

Judge Aiken said in her written ruling about a Federal intelligence section that it "now permits the executive branch of government to conduct surveillance and searches of American citizens without satisfying the probable cause requirements of the Fourth Amendment"- according to the AP article.

"For over 200 years, this Nation has adhered to the rule of law - with unparalleled success. A shift to a Nation based on extra-constitutional authority is prohibited, as well as ill-advised,"- my new judicial hero continues to opine.

The decision was rendered in the case of a lawsuit brought against the federal government by an American citizen wrongly accused of participating in the Madrid-Spain train bombings which left nearly 200 people dead.

Our law enforcement agencies misread that accused man's fingerprints- which brought on a $2-million lawsuit against the American government.

Thank you sincerely Judge Aiken. It is TRUE patriots like you who MIGHT save America from doom.
