CSW BREAKING: Three Dead in East KC-MO Shooting

Three people were reportedly found dead by police after a report of a shooting in the 2400 block of Lister in East KC-MO.


The incident was reported just before 10:30 p.m. Friday night and as of yet- there were no victim or suspect details.

School "Crossing Guard" Struck- Killed by Truck in KC-MO

Just before 7 a.m. Friday morning- a pedestrian was struck and mortally injured by a vehicle at 7th Street and Van Brunt in KC-MO's Old Northeast area.


According to news partner KSHB NBC Action News- the pedestrian- a male in his 60's- was a school "crossing guard" who was struck by a pickup truck being driven by a female.

The guard was rushed to a Metro hospital and passed away shortly after their arrival there.

There are no further details available yet....

TransCanada To Nebraska: Siting Legislation "Fundamentally Unfair"

When I read in the BEATRICE (NE) DAILY SUN what TransCanada's vice president for pipelines Robert Jones said- I HAD to chuckle.


TransCanada's Mr. Jones is upset over the legislative wrangling going on in the statehouse in Lincoln about re-locating that controversial TransCanada pipeline that would take Alberta's sand-oil crude to American Gulf Coast refineries.

The anti-pipeline Nebraskans don't want the pipeline running over the Ogallala aquifer.

The pro-pipeline people say Nebraska- and other states the pipeline would pass through- needs the jobs as well as America needing the oil.


I'll tackle that last first- "America needing the oil."


Absolutely no where I have searched are ANY assurances that the oil travelling down the pipeline to Texas would stay in America.

Quite the contrary: You can bet your home/farm that the oil will go to the highest bidder (China?).


Now- "the jobs."


Also I have read no where ANY assurances that the pipeline jobs would go specifically to residents of the state the line traverses.

In fact- no guarantees the jobs would even go to American citizens (contrary to what some labor unions say).


What IS "fundamentally unfair" is TransCanada coming to the United Corporate States and threatening landowners with imminent domain even though the pipeline HAS NOT been approved by the American government.

Quite the contrary- today the Obama Administration has put off ANY decision on the pipeline until probably after the 2012 elections.

Central States News: Missouri Department of Transportation Wants to Make Interstate 70 a Toll Road

Imagine paying an extra $20 or $30 just to drive to St. Louis...

If the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has their way- that's probably close to the amount of toll you would pay going from Kansas City across the state.


MoDOT has run the flag of possible tolls to pay for Interstate 70 improvements up the flagpole- according to this story from the ST. LOUIS (MO) POST-DISPATCH.

Central States News: Federal Regulators To Allow Lake of The Ozarks Boundaries Redrawn

Hundreds if not thousands of Lake of The Ozarks (LoTO) residents that border the lake may not have to demolish their structures after all...

According to this story in today's JEFFERSON CITY (MO) TRIBUNE- the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has "directed" utility company Ameren- owner of Bagnell Dam and LoTO- to "redraw" their shoreline boundaries.


This should- in effect- remove a lot of the threatened structures from the FERC mandate to move or demolish the structures.

Penn State College Students Riot Over Child Abuse Charges

Somebody- PLEASE- clue me in on just HOW college students- these from Penn State- can riot because their fired football coach was part of a child abuse scandal?

I can see MAYBE rioting over the economy- loss of American rights- rising tuitions or something like that- but I cannot see how I assume to be otherwise sane Human Beings can defend somebody involved in a child abuse coverup.

The riot cost a television station their live van- as if station WTAJ had ANYTHING to do with Joe Paterno's charges or even his firing!

I hope those who precipitated this riot and destruction never hold ANY position of authority or responsibility....

CSW BREAKING: KC-MO Police Switching to New Radio System

It's not a happy Wednesday morning for those of you without digital police scanners and listen to KC-MO Police...


So far this morning- several of the police patrol 'zones' have switched over to the new P25-compliant radio system.

If you have an old analog radio- you will not be able to pick up the new radio transmissions.

The new radio communications are in the clear thus far- but CSW has been told that encrypted signals will be used more on the new radio system.

Thus far- KC-MO Fire and EMS are still on the old '800mhz' trunk system- but they will be changing over soon I am told.


I imagine a day is coming soon where the citizens won't be able to hear the activities of their PUBLIC SERVANTS at all.

Good Samaritan Gets Repayed- With His Life

Here's a "FeelGood" story from the ASSOCIATED PRESS via MyWay news...

A Canadian couple travelling down I-94 in Wisconsin about 70 miles east of Minneapolis came upon a couple of females on the side of the road with a flat tire.

Victor Giesbrecht- age 61 of Winnepeg helped Sara Berg and her cousin Lisa Meier get their vehicle roadworthy again- and Victor and his wife Ann exchanged pleasantries with the 2 women then continued on down the road.

Sara and Lisa soon followed- and came upon the Canadian couple's pickup truck on the side of the road- Ann waving frantically.

Mr. Giesbrecht had suffered a heart attack- and medical student Sara Berg knew to give Victor CPR..


Victor Giesbrecht is in serious- but stable condition the AP story stated.

Central States News: Missouri Governor's Son Gets Off Pot Charge

There's a "drug war" on- but only if you're poor and 'unconnected.'


Case in point- the son of Missouri governor Jay Nixon was brought up on a marijuana charge- and now that charge was dropped by city prosecutors in Columbia MO- according to the story in the COLUMBIA (MO) TRIBUNE.

CSW Weather: NWS- "Excessive" Rainfalls Likely in Metro- MetroRegion Kansas City

Rain has begun over most of Metro Kansas City as well as the southern 1/2 of the MetroRegion- and this trend will continue off and on until at least midday Wednesday.

In addition- the NWS' Hydro Prediction Center (HPC) has Metro- as well as a large part of the northern & northeastern MetroRegion outlooked for possible excessive rainfall for about the next 24 hours.


Storm totals from this prolonged event- which should be known as our drought-buster- could well exceed 2-inches with more than 3-inches quite possible in some areas.

There is also a "slight" risk of possible severe thunderstorms over about the southern half of the Kansas City MetroRegion through Tuesday night..

Corporate Welfare (Tax Increment Financing) Taking Independence MO Budget To Cleaners

The INDEPENDENCE-BLUE SPRINGS-GRAIN VALLEY EXAMINER has a rather cheerleading story about The Falls- a shopping area anchored by Bass Pro Shops that is sucking taxpayer money from the Independence coffers.


Back in March- the city paid $3.5-million in bond payments to The Falls out of the city's fund because the taxpayer-funded retail area was (severely) underperforming in sales taxes.

Independence had backed the bonds to build The Falls with taxpayer dollars- and another multi-million-dollar payment is again due March 2012.


That drain on city funds has caused city employees to take an unpaid day off- as well as raise their insurance co-pays.


Citizen America needs to initiate a law that TOTALLY does away with ANY taxpayer subsidies to ANY  corporation!
