CDC Sues KC-MO Over Dead Citadel Plaza Project

I
t's but the latest in a seemingly constant streams of lawsuits against the City of Kansas City MO..

The KANSAS CITY (MO) STAR reports that the Community Development Corporation (CDC) of Kansas City has filed a lawsuit against the City of KC-MO over the decaying Citadel Plaza project because the city didn't give the corporates the EXTRA $20.5 I didn't know the city had promised them.

This was AFTER the CDC was successfully sued by a Pennsylvania investor who claimed their properties in the Citadel Plaza project boundaries were demolished without knowledge or- apparently- adequate compensation.

Gottstein- Circo and Ford Approve Platte County Annexation Advance

I
n yet another example of (non) responsiveness of politicians to their public- those 3 KC-MO City Council persons- Gottstein- Circo and Ford- managed to get the annexation of a new subdivision off of M-92 into the city.

The annexation ordinance now goes before the full City Council in their regular meeting tomorrow (Thursday).

We here at CSW are against this annexation for the simple reason being that the city cannot provide adequate services to the areas CURRENTLY inside the KC-MO city limits.

Do Kansas City Area Politicians Get Free Tickets To Events?

J
ust read a story in the OMAHA (NE) WORLD HERALD that around 2500 free tickets are made available to Nebraska state agencies for Cornhusker ball games.

Made me wonder how many tickets on the taxpayer's dime Kansas City area pollys get to things like Royals and Chiefs games- concerts- etc.?

I'm sure the number of freebies would be considerable but hey- they probably look at those sort of things as "perks" for (not) serving the public....

Snowstorm In Metro Kansas City?

It is becoming more apparent with each run of the weather models that Metro and a large portion of MetroRegion Kansas City will be affected by a winter storm- beginning later Thursday and continuing into Saturday morning.

At this juncture- it seems 2 to 5 inches of snow is possible in and around Metro K.C..

In addition- it looks like our area will return to the Deep Freeze at the beginning of next week with temperatures running 15 to 25 degrees below averages this time of February.

This weather system is just now taking shape off the West Coast- so stay tuned for further developments....

Kansas Legislature: Ban Alcohol If You're Concerned About "The Children"

T
his bunch in Topeka kills me...

The Kansas pollys out of one side of their mouth says full funding to EDUCATE our children might not be possible- yet those same pollys worry about some fake marijuana mixture- 'K-2' being sold in a few stores in the state.

These pollys are falling over themselves to be the FIRST state in America to make K-2 illegal while school budgets remain in peril.

DO THESE POLITICIANS REALLY CARE ABOUT OUR CHILDREN???

Maybe we should DRUG TEST the politicians and see why they are so utterly unresponsive to the REAL problems facing the state... AND "the children."

Buffy- We Want YOU

W
hen surfing lately- I've noticed this "advertisement" on several Web sites trying to elicit the reader to go to some site and vote for Sarah Palin for (survival to?) 2012.

Hell- if we're going to even consider a Sarah running for a national political office in 2012- heres MY choice:

"Economy Improving" Yet 700 Lose Jobs In KC-MO

I
f you've believed America's economy improved over the past year as Herr Geithner has- I have some prime scenic property to sell you (on the Moon).

Mega-inflation looms as those trillions of Federal 'bailout' dollars float around- and locally- DST Systems is getting rid of 700 workers.

Keep buying those stocks- you can always use them to paper your cardboard shack a few years down the road.

Colorado Springs Residents Face Severe Cuts With Tax Rejection

I
n November- residents of this southern Colorado city rejected tripling their property tax to offset city budgetary concerns.

Now- according to The DENVER (CO) POST- Colorado Springs city officials say there will be a variety of draconian cuts: from turning off of streetlights and removal of trash cans from city parks to layoffs and not filling open police and firefighter positions.

Nebraska Politicians Attempt To Address Native American "Despair"

A
s bad as today's economy is in 'conquered' America- it's twice as bad or worse on America's Native American reservations

(Photo courtesy of The Lincoln (NE) JOURNAL STAR)

Alcohol and drug abuse have been an issue for years on South Dakota's reservations as generations of Human Beings have lost their tribal identities and abilities to support their families with few good job prospects in or near their homes.

This story in The LINCOLN (NE) JOURNAL STAR tells of those trying to find answers to the many problems found in those reservations created many years ago by seemingly indifferent white men.
