A reported hit and run driver struck and killed a young child wandering on the westbound lanes of Blue Parkway near 67th Street just inside the Kansas City MO city limits with Raytown.
The incident occurred about 2:25 a.m. and the Raytown Police who arrived first confirmed the child was dead on the scene.
Police were looking for "a bluish-green 1990's Ford Taurus" that was driven by "a white male" who possibly struck the child and left the scene.
Around 3 am- police received a report from the nearby Crown Lodge motel at 8500 East Blue Parkway where a "2-year-old" male was missing from a room "with two other juveniles" there.
That information was confirmed as police discovered the boy wandered away from the room where his family from out-of-town was staying.
The young victim was identified Monday by police as "2-year-old J'Vierre Durden from Essex MO.."
Both directions of Blue Parkway between 63rd and 67th Street in southeast KC-MO going to and from Raytown were closed for several hours while police conducted their investigation.
