It was 1:58 am Sunday morning when Kansas City KS emergency services were sent to an address in the 2900 block of North 17th Street where it was reported there was "a man down" on the ground across from a residence.
Police arrived minutes later and found a man who police said was "in his 40's" dead at the scene.
The victim had reportedly been shot.
Police didn't have any witnesses or suspect information and said they would release the man's name as soon as next-of-kin had been notified.
