The only child of former President Harry S. Truman and his wife Bess- Margaret Truman- has "died at a Chicago assisted living facility following a brief illness"- according to a statement from the Truman Library in Independence- says this AP story.

Her father Harry once threatened a critic who gave Margaret a bad review after a singing recital. Ms. Truman married Clifton Daniel in April of 1956. Mr. Daniel died in 2000.
