***KC-MO POLICE INVESTIGATE OVERNIGHT HOMICIDE***

Just before 1 am, police were called to a house in the 6700 block of South Benton on a shooting. There they found a male with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.

Police were talking to the man's girlfriend this morning but had no other leads or witnesses.

KC-MO police also reported 2 unrelated shooting victims overnight - one from the 1500 block of Poplar around 4:15 am and another victim of a reported shooting that occurred in the 2300 block of Holly who appeared in the emergency room of a midtown hospital.

Both of those victims are expected to recover.

**TWO-ALARM FIRE IN KC-KS HIGH-RISE INJURES AT LEAST 5**

The call went out to six fire companies at 2:28 am of a fire on the 4th-floor of the 11-story Crossline Tower in the 1000 block of North 7th Street.

In seven minutes- heavy smoke was reported on the 4th- then the 5th floor of the residential structure. Evacuations of the 4th through 6th floors were carried out as a second-alarm was sounded at 2:38 am for additional help.

The flames were located in Apartment 406 by 2:44 am and the fire is out 10 minutes later.

At least 5 persons - including a firefighter who suffered hand cuts - were treated at the scene and/or transported to a hospital.

None of those people - most of them more than 60-years-old- appeared to have serious injuries - mostly mild smoke inhalation and anxiety attacks.

The cause is under investigation.

*TWO SERIOUSLY-INJURED IN CRASHES IN KC & CLAYCOMO, MO.*

The first wreck was a single-vehicle rollover on eastbound I-470 near Raytown Road around 12:30 am.
The female driver was ejected and suffered serious to critical injuries.

The 2nd serious-injury accident was also a single-vehicle rollover with ejection of the driver - this on on the northbound I-435 ramp to northbound I-35 just before 1:30 am..
The male driver was taken to a nearby trauma center in critical condition.

*EASTSIDE KC-MO GAS STATION ROBBED*

Police and MAST-EMS went to the gas station in the 3000 block of Van Brunt just before 3:45 am on the report of an armed robbery & assault.

There was no suspect information given and the victim's injuries were not serious.

***OVERNIGHT WEATHER***

The coldest temperature on this date since weather records began in 1889 was broken by 3 am..

The reading at that hour was 21-degrees - 3-degrees colder than the previous record low of 24 set in 1936.

Gusty northwestly winds dropped wind chills to the single-digits - but it was dry under mostly clear skies as of dawn.
