Overnight News - Saturday, 09 December 2006


All the significant news was in Kansas City, MO overnight...

Around midnight- some one tried to set fire to an occupied house in the 2400 block of Brooklyn. The fire - reportedly in a bedroom- was quickly brought under control with no injuries.


During the 2-o'clock hour- a gunshot victim was driven to a local hospital's emergency room. Police report the victim says they were shot at a nightclub at Blue Parkway and 63rd Street but there was no suspect description given.


Three males reportedly carjacked a person at a south KC convenience store around 11:15pm Friday night. It happened near 87th Street and Hillcrest and the victim was not hurt. Police were looking for the suspects and the stolen 1997 Honda.


Around 3 am Saturday morning- a male driver crashed his vehicle through concrete median dividers on I-35 north of Cambridge Circle. The force of the crash ejected the driver and pushed the dividers into the northbound lanes forcing the Interstate to be closed for a time. The man was taken to a nearby trauma center with life-threatening injuries.


A "major water break" in a south KC hotel caused significant damage. The incident was reported around 6:30 am in the 500 block of East 105th Street. An unknown number of hotel guests were evacuated by firefighters to unaffected portions of the building but no one was hurt.



Overnight weather had clear skies with temperatures that stayed right around the 30-degree mark. Blustery southwesterly winds made it seem about a dozen degrees colder however.
