A fire that broke out in the 2 o'clock hour Sunday morning in an apartment building in central Raytown has claimed at least one life.

The involved structure was in the 9800 block of East 60th Street at the Somerset Village Apartments.

Within minutes after arrival to the scene- Raytown and KC-MO firefighters pulled a woman and 2 children from an upper-floor apartment in the 3-story building.

Suffering serious to critical burns and smoke inhalation- the three victims were transported to area medical centers where one of the children died.
