KANSAS CITY'S BREAKING WEATHER: HEAVY SNOW IN THE SOUTHERN METRO

A band of precipitation continues across the southern half of the K.C. Metro at this hour- producing sleet and heavy snow.

As noted on this Topeka NWS radar image- this area is moving east-northeast- and well may spread over southern Platte and Clay counties in Missouri during the next hour or so.

You can see by this Overland Park Traffic Dept. camera shot at 119th Street & Nall that the snowflakes are quite large- though temperatures are still one to 2 degrees above freezing.

The area of precip will continue to affect the Metro into the early morning hours of Sunday.
