*** TWO JUMP FROM LEWIS & CLARK VIADUCT AFTER POLICE CHASE *** *** A car being chased on westbound I-70 just before 1am crashed into the rear of another car in KC-KS- then the 3 occupants of the suspect car ran- two reportedly jumping from the span over the Kansas River.
One of the jumpers was found dead underneath the viaduct by KC-MO police at 1:09am.. As police searched for the other 2 suspects (one reportedly runs down the Fairfax Trafficway off-ramp near where the wreck occurred)- paramedics from KC-KS FD prepared the 2 patients in the rear-ended vehicle for hospital transport.
Those 2 patients- a 48-year-old male driver and his 59-year-old female passenger were taken to two different trauma centers in good condition.
KC-KS FD launched 2 boats into the Kansas River- then pulled them out at around 2:30am- indicating a possible 2nd jumper's body had been located but no confirmation from the KCK PD public information officer.
It was not heard why the KC-MO police were chasing the suspects.
