Snowfall is tapering off for now southwest to northeast across Metro Kansas City with general snowfall amounts south of the rivers of around 1-inch or less.
A blizzard warning is in effect for that part of the MetroRegion in Kansas and Missouri along and north of U.S. 36 highway- as well as eastern Nebraska- all of Iowa- and states north and northeast.
The surface low pressure center is now around Vichy MO- southeast of Jeff City. The upper low is about over Topeka at this time- and a 'backside' snowband could mover through the Metro overnight.
All precip will end in Metro K.C. by dawn- but gusty west to northwest winds to near 40-45 mph will create blowing snow with reduced highway visibilities with near zero-degree wind chills.
Numerous crashes have been heard over the past hour and a half- but the only freeway blocked was I-35 in the northeast Downtown loop to the Paseo bridge. That stretch of I-35 is now clear.
It's still in the middle-30's here in southeast KC-MO- and here's some fresh snow images taken in the 'hood.
