"In response to the National Council of La Raza's decision to not convene its 2009 convention in Kansas City, Mayor Mark Funkhouser issued the following statement:
"I am disappointed that the National Council of La Raza has decided not to hold its convention here. We worked awfully hard to try to work out a compromise so they would come. I appreciate the efforts of Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, and those of federal mediator Pascual G. Marquez.""
So there you go people. The Funk stood his ground- whether you agree or not- you HAVE to give the man credit for sticking to his guns and not folding under the pressure of organizational extortion....
