The National Weather Service's (NWS) Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has forecasted severe thunderstorms over parts of the central through northeastern Central States through Monday morning.
As a cool front approaches the MetroRegion later today- thunderstorms are expected to develop over northeastern Kansas- southeastern Nebraska and northwestern Missouri into Iowa.
In the Kansas City MetroRegion- that forecasted "slight risk" area for possible severe storms is generally along and north of a north of Kirksville-MO to Leavenworth to Council Grove-KS line.
Only extreme north to northwest Metro areas border this forecast area.
Concern would be with those storms that first develop and become severe supercells. Those could produce a tornado or two.
Mostly the severe weather concern is with large hail and tropical storm to hurricane-force winds in the most severe storms.
Monday- virtually the entire MetroRegion is inside a NWS-SPC forecasted area for possible severe thunderstorms.
