Kansas City MO Politician and News Media's Response To Gun Violence? Oh Well...

I'm sure my fellow information hounds have seen and heard the political and news media response to all the murders and gunplay since late Saturday night...

Non-existant to cursory.

The city's politicians have spend an unreal amount of their time and efforts on The Plaza Incident and how to get curfews in the city's 'upscale' shopping and entertainment districts- while local news media coverage spent an inordinate amount of time as well on The Plaza Incident- a footrace and a soldier's funeral.

Only cursory news media attention was and has been given with political leaders' non-response to all the other gun violence throughout Kansas City in the past 72 hours.

Let me summarize this violence since midnight Sunday morning (I'm not even counting the 3 teens shot on the Plaza because that has been beat into the ground already):

Four Dead and at least 6 injured (how many others taken by family/friends to hospitals- unknown) JUST from gunfire JUST in Kansas City MO..

Most citizens in Metro Kansas City could care less about the gun violence ... UNLESS it happens to them- THEIR loved ones or THEIR friends.

Don't worry- as long as the problem continues to be shunted to a political corner or the 2nd and 3rd segments of newscasts- it WILL affect many more citizens and THEN you can hope that (it's too late) the pollys and happy-casts will REALLY address the issue.

KC-MO Records Homicides 69 and 70 Overnight

The killings ranged from the KC-MO Northland to the Southland overnight...

The first killing by firearms came around 11 p.m. Tuesday night at an apartment complex near Northeast 43rd Street and North Bennington- about a mile west of Worlds and Oceans of Fun.

It's reported that an undescribed suspect in a dark-colored SUV shot into an apartment building there after a fight at the same location earlier Tuesday evening.

Police report a black male in his late teens inside the apartment was struck by bullets- and taken to a Northland hospital where he died of his wounds.

The victim was 19-year-old Samir Clark-police later said- and he apparently wasn't involved the the earlier disturbance.

No suspect(s) in custody.

Barely 2 hours later (around 1 am Wednesday morning)- South Zone Patrol officers of the KC-MO Police department received the report of a prowler in the area in the 7900 block of East 100th Street near I-470 and Blue Ridge.

After a brief area search- police found a black male in his 20's dead of a gunshot wound in the backyard of a house in that block.

Once again- police had no suspect information on this murder- and later identified the victim as Wendell Everage in his 20's.

In a 24-hour period from 1 a.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday- gunfire in KC-MO killed 3 people and injured at least 4 others- as reported here at CSW at Link 1- Link 2 and Link 3.

Metro Kansas City Tax Increases- Imposed and Proposed

As the American economy teeters along the edges of a full-blown Depression- governments incredulously keep shoving tax increases down our throats- with and without the citizens voting on them.

The imposed tax increase is in Johnson County KS' Overland Park- where a whopping 46% property tax is being levied on their residents.

In KC and Jackson County MO- voters at least will get their say whether an ADDITIONAL 1/8-cent sales tax increase is approved just to benefit the Kansas City Zoo.
