Around 2:10 p.m. Tuesday afternoon- 5 companies of the KC-KS Fire department responded on a house fire in the 2300 block of Merriam Lane.
After making entry into the burning house- the crew discovered a male inside and carried him outside where they discovered the man was already dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Police have yet to determine if someone else shot the victim- police say was "a white male in his 50's- or if he took his own life prior to the fire which caused extensive damage to the 1-story structure.
