Two men- reported as "technicians" died around 9:30 am this morning when they fell 300 feet from a broadcast tower.
The 2 victims fell from the KMCI Channel 38 television tower near Eudora in northeastern Douglas County. They were reported to be employees of a cellular communications company.
KMCI is owned and operated by Scripps-Howard who also owns and operates NBC 41.
An investigation is underway.

CORRECTION - 1221 CDT - I have just learned from sources at my employer- NBC41- that "THIS TOWER IS NOT OWNED BY SCRIPPS-HOWARD."
The tower where this accident took place "...was sold to a firm in Topeka last year" the source stated.

Also, current reports have them falling from 500-800 feet.
End result was the same though.
50 to 80 stories now?
I'm wondering how the 2 fell together without seemingly any structural failure of the tower itself.
Wind or weather don't appear or be a factor either.
As you said X (splat?) ...
thats "to" not "or" in that last sentance.
Apparently they weren't on the actual tower yet. They were riding in a bucket traveling up one of the guy wires on their way to the tower when, somewhere between 500-800 feet, something went wrong and the bucket fell to the ground with them in it. Or, nearby.
Thanx X-
I've never heard of this type of tower ascent- either they climbed it or there's a little elevator inside the tower itself.
