NWS Weather Satellite Is Dead

One of NOAA/NWS' newer weather satellites- the GOES-12- was repositioned yesterday and promptly quit responding to ground control. They've been trying for nearly 24 hours to get GOES-12 working with absolutely no success.

Anyone trying to get the eastern USA sector visible images or other weather sat data from GOES-12 is SOL UFN.

This should be really fun (NOT) with a series of winter storms about to blast over us over the next 2 weeks or so...

BTW- I'm STILL not convinced we'll see a major ice storm locally- hope to know for sure by Friday.
