Kansas Says No To More Taypayer-Subsidized Corporate Welfare For New Wizards Stadium

H
a-Ha is all I can say.

The State of Kansas has said that the deal offered the owners of the Kansas City Wizards to build a stadium near the Kansas Speedway is their final offer.

This after the Wizard's owners backed-out of a deal to build a new soccer stadium and retail-office development at the site of the old Bannister Mall in south KC-MO..

The State of Kansas offered the moon- $144.5 million in STAR bond welfare and $85 million in tax credits and cash incentives.

The Wizards' developers wanted more: $155 million in STAR bond help- according to The KANSAS CITY STAR story.

Perhaps the Wizards will make another play for Missouri and try to suck a few more millions in taxpayer welfare out of us.

I say- the Wizards wanted Kansas- let them stay there now with NO MORE corporate welfare for them in KC-MO!!!
