A Hurricane Watch for the Texas Gulf coast has been upgraded to a Hurricane Warning- and an evacuation has been ordered for Galveston- on the eastern side of Hurricane Ike's forecasted landfall.
Ike is presently a Category-2- and could reach Category-4 status before it makes landfall late Friday night or early Saturday morning.
