A swath of The Great Plains from around Salina and Wichita KS south to west-central Oklahoma is under the gun today for a high risk of severe thunderstorms and a possible "tornado outbreak."
This is according to the NWS' Storm Prediction Center's (SPC) convective outlook issued at 1 am Thursday morning.
Surrounding regions are at a lesser- but not insignificant severe risk today as well- and Metro Kansas City is included in an "enhanced" risk area.
This forecast will be updated several times through the morning and afternoon- but be advised of this probable severe storm and tornado outbreak close to or in our area....
