The incident was reported around 12:45 p.m. at "Cook's Ham Company at 13825 Wyandotte" in the Martin City neighborhood in far southwestern KC-MO..
Fire officials on-scene say it was "a natural gas or methane explosion" inside the building- formerly the Armour meat packing plant.
Reportedly- four persons were injured.
Just before 1 pm- the KC-MO Fire department on-scene reports one person is refusing EMS transport- but another person has "blast injuries."
KC-MO FD-EMS transported "a 52-year-old male who was thrown about 15 feet" by a blast "from a furnace or oven" to Research Medical Center.
This patient's condition was not life-threatening.
Two other patients from the scene were being transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
One of those was "a 26-year-old" male who had minor injuries.
The exact cause of the blast was under investigation.
