They've been one of the most workingest fire department in the Metro for the past few weeks- and Monday morning is no different...
Shawnee's Fire department- along with units from Merriam and Overland Park are fighting a house fire in the 7300 block of Halsey.
The alarm sounded for the five companies at exactly 7:45 a.m.- and the first-arriving truck at 7:51 a.m. reported "fire showing" from one side of a "two-story" house there.
At least one crew reports making entry into the house at 7:55 a.m.- with the fire "knocked down" at 8:02 a.m..
At 8:12 a.m.- this fire is officially declared "under control-" and an at least "primary search" of the structure has not found anyone was still inside during the fire.
The house's unknown-number of occupants were away at the time it was later determined by fire scene command.
No other injuries are being reported as of this 8:20 a.m. update- and a fire investigation will soon be underway to determine cause (possibly around a fireplace?) and dollar amount of damage to the house.
