Central U.S. News: Illinois and Arkansas



CHICAGO IL
- A fire Wednesday morning caused heavy damage to the historic Holy Name Cathedral.
The 5:29am-reported fire affected mostly the attic and roof- but the altar- sanctuary and basement areas of the 134-year-old church were heavily damaged by smoke and water.
No one was hurt.

EVANSTON IL - A 10-year-old elementary school boy died early today after he was found hanging in a school.
Fifth-grader Aquan Lewis was found unresponsive and hanging from a hook in a bathroom of the Oakton Elementary School around 3pm Tuesday.

WEST MEMPHIS, AR - Arkansas State Medical Board's chairman Trent P. Pierce was critically injured early this morning after his car exploded.
The Associated Press reports Pierce was preparing to leave home for work when his car- a hybrid-powered vehicle- exploded.
No report if any explosive device was found or indicated.
