CSW BREAKING: KC-MO Fire Units Respond To Aircraft Emergency at K.C.I. Airport

It was sort of a 'slam-bam' affair on the K.C.I. airport emergency call.

The alarm was dispatched at 3:37 p.m. for surrounding structural fire companies- Pumpers 3-4-16 and 44- along with Truck 4 and Chief 103 (108 takes the call later) for an unreported type (believed passenger) plane experiencing an undisclosed problem.

At 3:40 p.m.- that plane lands safely on one of K.C.I.'s north-south runways- and is escorted to "the gate" by airport fire crews.

There's been no reports of anybody hurt- nor any report as to the airline- type of plane- number of souls-on-board nor the problem experienced.

And all the firepeople have went back home.

Central States News: Nebraska Corporate Welfare For Jobs Will Cost State Tax Revenue

S
imilar to Missouri's just-approved "tax incentives" for the Ford Motor Company- the State of Nebraska's issuance of corporate welfare in exchange for job creation basically puts more pressure on it's existing tax base.

In plain language- if a company isn't paying it's full share of taxes- governments are forced to raise sales and property taxes for everyone else to make up the difference.

A story in the OMAHA (NE) WORLD-HERALD tells of Nebraska's corporate welfare- and how much that largess costs the state budget.

Until any and ALL governmental corporate welfare is brought to a halt nationwide- what remains of middle to lower-income Americans will continue to bear the cost.

Man Shot- Bitten in KC-MO's Ruskin Heights Area

Not a week has gone by since KSHB assignment editor Nick Dutcher was found murdered in his Ruskin Heights home and there's more violence in that southeastern KC-MO area.

At 10:42 a.m. Saturday morning- emergency services responded to a shooting "at the park at 107th Street and Sycamore."

Police arrived in the area about seven minutes later and soon had the "24-year-old male" victim walk up to them.

Rather limp up to them- the young man had been shot "through and through" in one of his legs.

He also had a "human bite" on his right hand and he was transported by KCMO-FD-EMS to a Metro hospital.

Police are looking for the suspect: a black male named Ed- who left the scene in a black Kia Sportage.

Metro Kansas City Saturday Morning News and The Weather

I
t was a busy morning- but no reports of homicides or other traumatic deaths around the Metro.

Shootings were reported in KC-MO- but just one victim.

The first was reported by KC-MO police just before 3 a.m. in Westport.

KC-MO police officers working Westport security reported people in at least 2 vehicles shooting at each other- and cops initially report "5" victims.

None of the vehicles/shooters are caught and- as it turns out- no one in Westport was hit by the "numerous (shell casings)" shots fired.

The only other shooting heard had a victim that showed up at Truman Medical Center downtown around 4:50 a.m..

The male victim reportedly got shot in front of the Mc Donald's in the 6700 block of East Front- then drove himself to Truman.

Vehicle  wrecks were few overnight- the worst one being in Kansas City KS..

Missouri agencies first got the call on that one- westbound Lewis & Clark Viaduct- one car into a guardrail at 1:47 a.m..

The crash was in KC-KS- near the Fairfax exit on "The Viaduct/I-70."

The 23-year-old male driver was taken to the University of Kansas (K.U.) Medical Center in serious condition.

Other more minor crashes occurred in KC-MO- Olathe- Harrisonville and northern Miami county KS..

Structure fires occurred in KC and Independence MO....

Several arson fires occurred in the 2700 block of Garfield beginning around 12:13 a.m..

At that time- a battalion of fire companies were sent on a house fire and found "a small fire on the front porch" of a vacant house at 2705 Garfield.

Firefighters got that out and went home- only to be called back- twice- further down the block.

Those fires were in an unattached garage containing a truck at 2717 Garfield- one fire at 12:53 and the last at 2:25 a.m..

No one was injured and arson reports were taken on all the fires there.

Another suspected arson fire in a vacant house occurred just after 5:15 a.m..

That fire was in the 5200 block of East 28th Street and broght under control at 5:30 a.m..

No injuries there either...

The last fire was in Independence just after 6 a.m..

That was a house fire near 35th Street and Home in a 1-story structure.

Fire was found in the basement and 1st-floor- with that incident under control by 6:40 a.m. with no reports of injuries.

Weatherwise- warm and humid again today- but with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in Metro Kansas City later this Saturday afternoon and night.

There's a slight chance some of those storms could be severe- and there's a threat of torrential- flash-flooding rainfalls- so stay tuned later today....

Reason For Blue Springs' "Revenue Shortfall" Is Welfare For Developers

I
'm amazed daily now seeing all these governments short on cash and raising sales and property taxes to cover those shortfalls- and how absolutely NO PRESS coverage on how those entities GOT short on cash.

That part deosen't amaze me- the fact that the people in those jurisdictions seem to vote FOR those increases and let their elected ones keep issuing corporate welfare (TIFs- 353s- etc) not ONLY amazes but- quite frankly- shocks me.

It comes as no surprise to me that the City of Blue Springs MO wants their own city employees to take unpaid days off and the fact the city is laying off a few employees to balance their checkbook- according to The EXAMINER.

This after BS just last week announced ANOTHER corporate welfare project in a location where ANOTHER tax break project failed- reported here at CSW.

Another corporate welfare mecca in Blue Springs are the commercial developments around I-70 and Adams Dairy Parkway (ADP).

Blue Springs- like elected officials damn near everywhere- use scare tactics to get voters to make up the shortfalls accrued when they give developers tax breaks and what-all and those very tax breaks end up coming out of the city's coffers when those constant "pie-in-the-sky" revenue projections for the welfare areas don't make enough.

See Kansas City's 'Power & Light' entertainment/boozing area that will take $10-15-million per year until 2033 to pay the glitzy area off.

Even more bothersome- is the Kansas City news media's lack of coverage of this fact- they'll report these fancy new projects and their made-up benefits but dance around what that project will cost taxpayers in corporate welfare to build that whatever.

Sales tax elections are threatened again in several Metro cities- two are Independence MO and KC-KS- and I'll bet you the farm that voters will probably approve them all.
